The PAN-APA AI Workshop platform is an educational tool created by Penn State's Pan-African Professional Alliance (PAN-APA) in collaboration with Nyansapo Labs. It provides hands-on AI training through guided lessons, a visual pipeline builder, and interactive exercises designed for African researchers and practitioners.
By creating an account and using this platform, you acknowledge and agree that:
- Assessment Data: Your pre-workshop and post-workshop evaluation responses may be used for scientific research to understand how people learn AI concepts and to improve AI education methods for broader audiences.
- Media Uploads: Audio, images, and other media you upload to the pipeline builder may be used to improve open-source AI models for African languages, dialects, and contexts. This includes but is not limited to speech recognition, computer vision, and natural language processing models.
- Usage Patterns: Anonymized data about how you interact with the platform (modules completed, pipelines built, features used) may be analyzed to improve the workshop curriculum and platform design.
- Open-Source Contribution: Research outputs and model improvements derived from aggregated, anonymized platform data may be published as open-source resources to benefit African AI development.
- Personal Information: Your name, email, and institution are stored securely and used only for workshop administration, progress tracking, and certificate generation.
- No Sale of Data: Your personal information and data will never be sold to third parties.
- Anonymization: Any data used for research will be anonymized. Your name and email will not be associated with research datasets.
- Secure Storage: All data is stored on Microsoft Azure with encryption at rest and in transit.
- Right to Withdraw: You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting the workshop organizers.
- Use the platform for educational purposes related to the workshop.
- Do not upload harmful, offensive, or illegal content.
- Do not attempt to abuse API quotas or circumvent usage limits.
- Do not share your account credentials with others.
- Respect intellectual property rights when uploading media.
The platform provides a limited number of AI API calls per participant. These calls use third-party services (Google Gemini, Anthropic Claude, ElevenLabs, HuggingFace) which have their own terms of service. Additional quota may be obtained through promo codes provided by workshop organizers.
